Point Cook man Chee-Wei Tay is an accomplished music composer whose recent works have been included in Emmy nominations.
Chee-Wei laughed as he told Point Cook TV that his first-ever gig was writing karaoke music and that by the time he had written his first musical score for a Singaporean director he was ready to pack up and leave the music industry.
But, as he was about to start work in the I.T industry, the Singaporean film won multiple awards, prompting other production companies to start calling Chee-Wei with offers to write for various television programs and film.
After working for around 10 years on the world-renowned ‘Nova’ series of documentaries, Chee-Wei was asked to assist them further by providing a musical score for a new climate change series for ‘Earth Day’.
Recently two of the documentaries that Chee-Wei worked on with Nova, received Emmy nominations, ‘Decoding the Weather Machine’ was nominated for the category of Outstanding Science and Technology Documentary and ‘Black Hole Apocolypse’ for the Writing category.
Chee-Wei said that he is very honored and quite humbled to have been a part of the team that has worked on these projects.
The Emmy Awards will take place in New York on the 24th of September.
