A motorbike rider was rushed to hospital by ambulance with a police escort this evening, after hitting a traffic island.
Westgate Highway Patrol were patrolling near the IGA in Cottrell Street Werribee, when a motorcycle decided to pop a mono in front of them. Checks on the plate reveal they were false and involved in previous incidents of evading police.
Highway Patrol tracked the motorcycle at high-speed north along Tarneit Road and through various side streets whilst waiting for air support.
Whilst Air Support en-route the bike rider has collided with a traffic island whilst performing an overtaking manoeuvre on Leakes Road Tarneit.
A 23-year-old male was taken into custody.
It was then established:
* He had drugs on him;
* He was wanted for outstanding matters;
* The bike was stolen.
Currently in police custody.
